Your eyes at work

Your eyes do a lot for you.  They keep you out of danger, and they help you in all aspects of your life.  At work, you probably spend a lot of time looking at a computer screen.  Here are some general tips for keeping your eyes healthy on the job.

Be ergonomic

When you are on the computer, make sure that your eyes are on the same level as the screen you are looking at.  Positioning the screen higher than eye level will cause your neck to strain, which after extended periods of time, will cause you pain.

Lights

When you are working on a computer, make sure that you have all the light that you need.  Working in the dark on a computer is not good for your eyes in the long run.  Take care of your eyes, and your eyes will thank you.

Take a break

Constantly staring at a computer screen puts a strain on your eyes.  Take your eyes off the screen after a long session, to readjust your eyes.  Don’t forget to blink.  If your eyes feel dry, lubricate with eye drops as needed.

You demand a lot of your eyes.  The least you could do is to keep them happy and healthy.  There’s no reason not to have fashionable designer glasses in the process.  Glassescrafter.com has all the designer eyeglasses you desire, at the prices your wallet will love.  View the selection and prepare to be amazed.

Extending the life of your glasses

Glasses are an investment.  They can help you look better, they help you see better, which would increase your chances of earning, and keep your eyes healthy without invasive surgery.  So, for all that glasses do for you, it’s in your best interest to look after them.  It doesn’t take much to care for glasses, so here’s a short list.

Start with a wet surface

Do not start cleaning your glasses without spraying them with glass cleaner, or rinsing them under water.  If you do, you run the risk of scratching your glasses.  And it’s never cute to have scratches on your glasses.  Just don’t do it.

Cloth, not tissue

Tissue disintegrates, and makes it harder to clean.  So just use a cloth that you specifically use for glasses.  If you can avoid it, don’t use your clothes.  They usually have dirt embedded, so you’re defeating the purpose.

Don’t throw your glasses around

Glasses help you see.  So just like you don’t throw valuables around, don’t treat your glasses carelessly.  You’ll be glad you cared for your glasses after being ablet to tell your friends that you’ve had them more than 2 years.

Designer glasses are now affordable, but even so, they deserve TLC, just like all the other valuables you own.  Take a look at glassescrafter.com to see all the new affordable styles .

Lenses 101

The eyeglass lens is the most important part of your eyeglasses.  If you are using the wrong prescription, then you would be better off with just clear plastic.  Your eyeglasses are just plain ineffective.  There are different types of lenses available to eyeglass wearers.  Here’s a brief explanation on the most common lenses.

Hi-index Lenses

With hi-index lenses, the weight of your lenses are dramatically changed.  What used to be only available as a thick lens, can be seen through hi-index lenses.  The width of the lens is decreased significantly, so you can wear a thinner frame.  When you order from glassescrafter.com , you get free hi-index 1.61 superthin lenses with every order.

Polycarbonate Lenses

These lenses are also available in thinner weights, so you get the same intensity without the thick lens.  They are also considered to be a high index plastic.  Polycarbonate lenses also offer ultraviolet protection.  Since they are known throughout the industry for being strong, they are usually the lens of choice for sports lenses and safety lenses.

Trivex Lenses

Consider these lenses to be the first cousin to the polycarbonate lenses.  In most aspects they are completely alike.  However, they are more rigid, and not quite as light in weight as polycarbonate lenses.  Usually they are paired with rimless styles.

It’s always good to learn the language of the industry.  The more choices you have, the more empowered you are.  Take a look at the collection at glassescrafter.com .  You’ll find exactly what your looking for, and maybe even more.

Cleaning 101

You chose your eyeglasses carefully, and want them to last.  So just as contact lenses must be cared for, glasses should be also.  Of course the time commitment is not on the same level as contact lenses, but the idea is the same.  Taking care of your investment is just a good idea overall.  The following is a quick primer on properly cleaning your eyeglasses.

Spray the lens surface

Before you begin to clean your lenses, you need to lubricate them.  Some people choose to rinse them under running water before they begin spraying cleaning solution.  It’s not a requirement, but it’s a good practice.  Either way, it’s not recommended to clean your lenses when they are dry.  You run the risk of scratching them.  And scratched lenses are never in fashion.

Cleansing cloth, will travel

While tissues are widely available, the aren’t recommended.  For one thing, when you wipe a damp surface with them, they often tear.  So do yourself a favor, and invest in a cloth specifically made for cleaning glasses.  They’re virtually indestructible and they last forever.  Your eyeglasses will thank you for it, as will your eyes.

Put it away

The eyeglass case was invented because eyeglasses need a place to stay.  Your eyeglasses are like you, they need a place to rest.  When you take the time to put your eyeglasses away, you are extending the life of the eyeglasses.  Take care of your investment, and your eyeglasses will last.

Designer eyeglasses are made to last, because of the craftsmanship behind them.  Take a look at the selection at glassescrafter.com and start your collection the frugal way.

Everyone wears eyeglasses

Eyeglasses are as universal as clothes, everyone knows about them and wears them.  And what once was only available to the rich, famous and beautiful is widely available to the general public, designer eyeglasses.  Now you can have the same fashionable designer eyeglasses, but at a fraction of the price that the rich pay for.  Take a look at the list to see what is popular among the fashion forward.

Marc Jacobs

You can’t be important without a pair of Marc Jacobs.  When you want to look and feel like a proverbial rock star, and because you are a celebrity in your own right, take your pair of Marc’s and show them how you roll.  Show everyone that you have the ability to take a trendy fashionable item and make it part of your own persona.  Marc Jacobs’ eye ware can unleash your inner celebrity, while you show everyone that you have everything under control.

Glasses for whenever you need them

Let’s face it, human beings are pretty accident prone.  Even with the best of intentions and under the best conditions, accidents happen.  So why should you put all of your stock into just one pair of glasses.  With glassescrafter.com , you don’t have to stop at one pair only.  Between the affordable prices and the multitude of designer eyeglass frames available, you have no excuse to have just one pair of eyeglasses.  Take a look at the list for a refresher course on wearing eyeglasses.

Keep your hairstyle in mind

Some people like to focus simply on the impact eyeglasses have on their face.  However, you should keep your whole head in mind, not just your face, when you choose eyeglasses.  Your bangs, or curls should not extend lower than the top of your eyeglass frames.  Getting your hair caught in your frames is not a pleasant feeling, so style accordingly.  Depending on the hairstyle you choose, you could have a pair of eyeglasses that enhance your style perfectly.

Comfort

Your eyeglasses go wherever you do, but that doesn’t mean that you need to always wear the same pair.  The eyeglasses you bring to tennis practice does not need to be the same as the one you wear to the office.  Just like you have clothes for every occasion, you can have eyeglasses that are meant for different jobs.  The eyeglasses you wear to the office can be light and fashionable, unlike the eyeglass pair that you wear to your tennis tournaments.  The same rules of form and function that applies to shoes and clothing apply to eyeglasses.  Follow them, and you won’t go wrong.

The eyeglasses you wear all have the same function, to show people the real you, while you see everything clearly.  Visiting glassescrafter.com will help you in your journey to finding eye wear that enhances both your vision and your appearance.

Transition v. Reactolite Lenses

Transition lenses are actually just a brand of Photochromic lenses. Currently they are the most advanced ones on the market, but there are others. Some major pros about using these types of lenses is that they are clear but react with UV and produce a tinted effect based on how much UV is present. The idea behind these “smart lenses” is to use the correct amount of protection for your eyes all day without the inconvenience of switching between corrective glasses or sunglasses. The only real con with these glasses is the same of many glasses. These lenses are a little hazy behind a car windshield. Also, they will slide off your nose; they leave a mark, and take a couple of minutes to turn back to clear when coming inside. When weighing the options, none of these cons are that big of a deal and it’s a great trade off for constantly protected eyes!

Reactolite lenses are just a brand name of glass Photochromic lenses. They are similar to transition lenses in that they do the same job. Some main differences between the two are that reactolite lenses are much heavier and slightly more uncomfortable. The upside to transition lenses is that they are much clearer to see through behind the wheel of a car.

Most people prefer transition lenses but you’ll never know if you don’t try! Photochromic lenses are practical and can save you from having to buy a pair of clear glasses and sunglasses. Like I mentioned earlier, I definitely think the trade off for constant protection of your eyes is worth it!
