Caring for your Eyeglasses

So you’ve finally decided on getting those beautiful designer eyeglasses.  Now that you’ve finally received them, you have to make sure that you care for them.  Eyeglasses normally have a lifespan of more than 2 years, depending on how often your vision changes.  However, if your vision has been pretty regular, and doesn’t really change, you can push for a longer period of time, maybe like 3-5 years of wear.  The only way you can do that, though, is to take extremely good care of your eyeglasses.  Here’s an easy to follow list of things that you should do to take care of your eyeglasses.

It’s all in the cloth

Ideally, you have a portable micro fiber cloth that you are able to stash with you wherever you go.  For the love of your glasses, refrain from cleaning your glasses with your paper towels or conventional tissues.  The surface of paper towels and tissues is much too rough for your eyeglasses.  It would be better for you to use your tee shirt to clean your eyeglasses than paper products.  So, respect your glasses, and invest in some cleaning materials.

Proper moisture

Your glasses should be moistened before you start cleaning them.  Whether you use soap and water, or a liquid specifically engineered for eyeglasses, it doesn’t matter.  Just as long as the surface is lubricated before you start cleaning.

Your eyes are a very big part of who you are.  If you treat your eyeglasses right, your eyes will be happy.  And part of staying happy is making sure you look great.  Check out the fabulous selection of designer eyeglasses at glassescrafter.com .  Your eyes will be happy they did, and your wallet will rejoice at all the money you have left.

The Future of Eyeglasses

Technology has made lots of new developments possible.  Colored lenses are very common now, and they add both form and function for eyeglass wearers.  Lenses are also getting thinner, and the frames being chose more often are metal.  Take a look at the ways eyeglasses are helping make life easier.

Flexibility

Contact lens wearers are not the only people who can play sports anymore.  Eyeglass frames are now more flexible and can withstand impact.  So you no longer have to spend the entire game rubbing your eyes because sweat and contact lenses don’t mix.  In addition, you can get flexible eyeglasses that also keep the sun out of your eyes, so play on.

Lens Coatings

If you spend a lot of time on a computer, because of your job, or simply because you are an excellent gamer, your eyes need not suffer in the process.  Lenses can be coated with anti-glare to keep your eyes comfortable and anti-scratch, just because nobody’s perfect.  Now you can proceed to win all of those competitions that you have going on.

Eyeglasses are no longer just for the sake of deficient vision.  They are a powerful fashion accessory, and can make your look even more current.  Make sure to visit glassescrafter.com in order to see what’s in fashion now.  And don’t stop at just one pair, with the fabulous prices, you’re only limited by your own imagination.

Eyeglasses have become more than instruments that correct vision, they are fashion statements.  That’s because when people see you, they see the eyeglasses that you are wearing.  Eye wear designers have responded with designs that are meant to make you look better, in addition to helping you see better.  Here are a list of trends that are slated for 2010.

Metal frames

Technology has made it possible for frames to get even smaller.  If you have always wanted to wear small round frames, 2010 is the time to try them.  And you can get them in a wide variety of colors.  From matte colors to bright colors and everything in between, you are bound to find a frame that appeals to you.

Lens tints

If you see the world through rose colored glasses, why not equip your eyeglasses to do the same.  You can get your lenses tinted in a variety of colors.  And you don’t have to stop at one color, it’s possible to get highlights and tints all on the same lens.

Frames for your face

A trend that has come back into vogue is the oversized frame.  However, you can now get them with angled edges, for a different twist on the look.  You don’t have to be like everyone else either.  Butterfly frames are now becoming popular, so you can distinguish yourself from all of the other eyeglass wearers.

Transition v. Reactolite Lenses

Transition lenses are actually just a brand of Photochromic lenses. Currently they are the most advanced ones on the market, but there are others. Some major pros about using these types of lenses is that they are clear but react with UV and produce a tinted effect based on how much UV is present. The idea behind these “smart lenses” is to use the correct amount of protection for your eyes all day without the inconvenience of switching between corrective glasses or sunglasses. The only real con with these glasses is the same of many glasses. These lenses are a little hazy behind a car windshield. Also, they will slide off your nose; they leave a mark, and take a couple of minutes to turn back to clear when coming inside. When weighing the options, none of these cons are that big of a deal and it’s a great trade off for constantly protected eyes!

Reactolite lenses are just a brand name of glass Photochromic lenses. They are similar to transition lenses in that they do the same job. Some main differences between the two are that reactolite lenses are much heavier and slightly more uncomfortable. The upside to transition lenses is that they are much clearer to see through behind the wheel of a car.

Most people prefer transition lenses but you’ll never know if you don’t try! Photochromic lenses are practical and can save you from having to buy a pair of clear glasses and sunglasses. Like I mentioned earlier, I definitely think the trade off for constant protection of your eyes is worth it!
